| Program Description | This program looks into the lives of those who shaped history and geography by being a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Students will explore some of the key and interesting members of the Corps of Discovery. Students will examine what skills these individual brought to the expedition and how their skills made this epic trip successful. The students will also learn about the personalities of the explorers. Students will find out what happened to the members of the expedition after the expedition. | |
| Program Format |
1. Students will discuss Lewis and Clark Expedition. 2. We then will discuss Jefferson and the Louisiana Purchase. 3. We will have the students list what skills were needed on the expedition to be successful. 4. Students then will name some of the members of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. 5. We will then talk about their skills, personalities, and what happened to them after the expedition using props and slides. 6. Conclusion and questions. |

The students will: 1. explore the importance of Jefferson and the Louisiana Purchase. 2. be able to list and evaluate the skills needed by the members of the Corps of Discovery. 3. list three members of the expedition and tell what specific skills they possessed. 4. to appreciate the personalities of the members of the expedition. 5. be able to tell about the lives of three of the explorers after the expedition. |
