Program Description   This interactive program will look at the contributions and impact of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The program will highlight other groups that came West. The program will look at their motivation to enter the American West and their contribution to the settling of the Western frontier. The program will conclude with a presentation and discussion of the Oregon Trail Migration.
Program Format   1. Program begins having the students develop a list of accomplishments of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
2. Students then will learn through pictures, journal entries, and artifacts about the different groups that came after Lewis and Clark.
3. Student will learn why people came on the Oregon Trail and what other groups contributed to make the trip possible.
Objectives   The participants will:
-know the effects of the Expedition of Lewis and Clark on the Westward Movement.
-list 4 other groups that came west and put the into chronological order.
-appreciate the concept of Manifest Destiny.
-compare the advantages of going to the West.
